Koolhaas lamented the "overwhelming addiction to form, style, aesthetics, that in itself really represents a disease." He challenged young architects to shed all that was "frivolous, decorative, and showy" and focus instead on exploring new content by designing a house with "massive constraints" and a "characterless" approach. The title "House with NO STYLE" was a deliberate negation, urging entrants to interrupt the "narcissistic automatism of form-making." ER -
